Why are so many young people addicted to social media?

There are a number of reasons for this:

  1. It connects people with other people.

Connection and hearing are deep feelings that every man has;

  • Stickiness of these platforms.
  • This includes the product properties that the platforms apply that will keep you active on a platform for longer. Something that is very effective and applied by almost all social platforms is the “Infinity scroll”. You can continue scrolling continuously, there is no end to it. This keeps people constantly viewing “1 more post”. This works with slot machines/slots the same thing incidentally (“1 more round, you never Know”).

  • Fear of missing out.
  • The fear of missing something is very strong among people.

    Maybe there are several reasons but I think 3 are very important.I hope it helps you!

    Is there a difference between young people and the elderly?No. It is because of the reward that social media gives you (likes, numbers, reactions, interaction etc) and thus creating endorphin. Please note that all social media is focused on this platform as well; There are whole teams on that reward structure.

    Endorphins are produced by the pituitary gland (hypothalamus in vertebrates) during physical exertion, excitement, pain, spicy eating, love and orgasm.They resemble opiates in their ability to cause pain relief as well as a sense of well -Being and happiness.

    Not only young people, but I think many prefer to look at a screen like around them.Then they have to see the problems around them.

    Instant gratification.
